The Affordable Art Fair is one of those occasional events in an out of most people’s way location that can really prove extremely valuable to visit for anybody with an inkling of a following of art. Held in Battersea, the Affordable Art Fair takes away much of the pretension of the art following world and gives you the chance to pick up pieces are remarkably low prices in the £50 to £3,000 area.
At the Affordable Art Fair in previous years, pieces have changed hands for a few hundred pounds by artists whose work you could not elsewhere acquire for several times that amount. This is not an event simply for connoisseurs but for the family – with a free crèche for the really young. There are workshops covering everything from printmaking to how to spot the next Damien Hirst in good time to invest in and enjoy some of their work before it becomes unaffordable.
Travel: Take bus route 49 from stop D outside South Kensington tube station towards Clapham Junction and get off at Parkgate Road/Battersea Bridge for the short walk into Battersea Park and to The Marquee.
