Elvis Presley’s 75th Birthday at Charlotte Street Blues 8th January to 10th January 2010 Charlotte Street Blues, 74 Charlotte Street, Fitzrovia, London W1T 4QH |

It would have been Elvis Presley's 75th Birthday at this time and this relatively new and ambitious venue is putting on 3 nights of celebration of the life and times of The King. There will be Elvis's music, of course, Elvis related food, and as much of a Memphis atmosphere as you can rustle up in the heart of central London.
Anticipate an array of Elvis look-a-likes competing for who does it best and who can carry the most Brylcreem. Musical performers include the tribute bands Elle & Vis and the Hot Bananas whilst, on the Sunday, The Always Elvis Gospel Choir perform to carry you back in time to Memphis more years ago than perhaps many of us realised in the company of an all-you-can-eat buffet.
If one of your New Year resolutions was to diet, you can wave goodbye to that one here - there is a complimentary fried peanut butter and banana sandwich with each first cocktail and the weekend menu includes some calorie giants such as The jailhouse Platter, The Hounddog Platter and The King Platter. You will revel in nostalgia and drink and food that is normally hard to find in London.
Travel: Take the Piccadilly Line from South Kensington tube station to Green Park and change to the Victoria Line to Goodge Street. Charlotte Street is just around behind Tottenham Court Road and off Goodge Street itself.
