The Flamenco Festival London is in its seventh year and brings a splendid display of the art of Flamenco from its home in Spain to a lavishly decorated stage of the Sadler’s Wells Theatre. Raw energy and hot-blooded passion flow to excess as world class flamenco dancers from across Spain display their art in everything from the traditional forms to the most up to date contemporary flamenco heading off in quite new directions.
The Nuevo Ballet Espanol opens the festival with an all new show also mixing the traditional with contemporary. Eva Yerbabuena, noted as one of the world’s very top flamenco dancers returns with her new show ‘Lluvia’(rain). Other highlights include performances by Rafaela Carrasco and Maria Pages – the latter the fire dancer in ‘Riverdance’ – leading up to the finale – the Grand Gala Flamenca, which features many of the most significant new personalities in flamenco.
Travel: Take the Piccadilly Line from South Kensington to Kings Cross and change to the Northern Line for the short ride to Angel. On exiting the station turn left down St. John’s Road and turn right into Roseberry Avenue for the Sadler’s Wells Theatre.
